AC5 commercial laminate for offices, retail back-of-house and light-commercial spaces — robust, quick to fit, and sensibly priced.

About Laminate flooring

AC5 commercial laminate for offices, retail back-of-house and light-commercial spaces — robust, quick to fit, and sensibly priced.

Where it works best

  • Small-office and back-of-house spaces
  • Retail staff rooms and offices
  • Light-traffic break-out areas
  • Residential-style serviced offices
  • Landlord refresh between tenancies

How we fit it

  • Site survey — We assess the existing floor, measure, and check levelness. Laminate is unforgiving on an uneven subfloor, so we survey carefully.
  • Product selection — We help specify AC4 or AC5 range with the right fire classification for the building's use-class.
  • Priced proposal — Product, underlay, beading, uplift, subfloor prep and fitting — all itemised.
  • Subfloor preparation — Levelling compound, DPM where needed, old floor uplifted and cleared.
  • Installation — Boards click-fitted with proper expansion gap, scotia or beading installed, door bars trimmed cleanly.
  • Handover — Offcuts kept on site, product data and any fire certs handed to estates or facilities.

FAQs

Laminate questions, answered.

Is laminate appropriate for commercial use?
AC5-rated laminate is designed for commercial traffic and is perfectly fine for offices, staff areas and light-commercial spaces. For heavy public footfall (shop floors, reception), LVT or engineered wood usually gives better life.
Will laminate handle office chair castors?
Yes with a chair mat. Without, any hard floor will show wear under castors over time. We recommend a clear polycarbonate mat at each workstation.
What fire rating is available?
Commercial laminate ranges typically carry Cfl-s1 to BS EN 13501 — suitable for most office, retail and educational settings. We'll confirm against your fire strategy at quote stage.
Can laminate be fitted over the existing floor?
Over vinyl or tile, often yes if the substrate is sound and flat. Over carpet, never. We assess on site and give a straight answer.
How disruptive is the installation?
Laminate is among the quickest commercial floors to fit — roughly 400 sqm per team per day after uplift. We can work out-of-hours or weekend to avoid disrupting operations.
Does laminate sound hollow in a large space?
Budget laminate can. Specifying a 4–5mm acoustic underlay and a 12mm board dramatically reduces footfall noise. In large open-plan spaces we'd often recommend LVT instead for acoustic comfort.
