How we fit it

  • Home visit and measure — We visit at a time that suits you, take precise measurements and talk through how each room is used, heating, and any fitted furniture to work around.
  • Samples and recommendation — We bring samples we think fit the brief rather than an overwhelming catalogue. You see colour and texture in your own light before deciding.
  • Written quote — You receive a clear written quote within 48 hours covering carpet, underlay, grippers, trims, uplift of the old floor and fitting.
  • Scheduled installation — Once you're happy, we book a fit date. For stocked ranges this can be within a week; bespoke orders typically take two to three.
  • Fit day — Our fitters arrive on time, protect doorways, seam carpet so joins sit out of sight, and tidy up before we leave.
  • Walk-round and aftercare — We walk the floor with you, explain care, and leave you with the paperwork and a small offcut for any future repairs.

FAQs

Carpet questions, answered.

Wool or synthetic — which should I choose?
Wool feels better underfoot, wears beautifully and flame-retards naturally, but costs more. A good wool-rich 80/20 blend is the right answer for most lounges and bedrooms. For busy family hallways and children's rooms, a stain-resistant polypropylene twist is often the more sensible call.
What underlay do you recommend?
For domestic work we specify a PU foam or crumb-rubber underlay in 9 or 11mm depending on the room. It makes a noticeable difference to comfort, acoustic feel and carpet lifespan — cheap felt underlay is a false economy.
Can you fit carpet on stairs with spindles?
Yes. Spindles make fitting slower but not harder — our fitters cut tightly around each turning and use a waterfall or cap-and-band finish depending on the look you want. We'll walk you through both options at the quote.
Will there be visible joins?
In rooms up to around 5 metres wide, no — most carpet is woven to 4m or 5m and we'll plan the layout so the full width runs the room. In wider rooms we place seams under sofas, along walls or in the least-used sight-lines.
How long does a typical bedroom carpet take to fit?
A single bedroom is usually done in half a morning once the room is clear. A three-bed upstairs including stairs, landing and hallway is typically a full day.
Do I need to empty the room?
Small items, yes. We'll happily move wardrobes, beds and larger furniture as part of the fit — just flag anything fragile or antique at the quote stage so we can plan around it.
How do I look after a new wool carpet?
Vacuum with a suction-only head (not a beater bar) for the first three weeks while the pile settles, then switch to your normal hoover. Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth — don't scrub. We leave detailed care notes with every fit.
