About LVT flooring

Amtico, Karndean and Polyflor LVT in commercial-grade builds — surveyed, prepped, laid-and-patterned by accredited installers for offices, retail and hospitality.

Where it works best

  • Office receptions and breakout spaces
  • Hotel lobbies and corridors
  • Retail shop floors and concept stores
  • Restaurants and coffee shops
  • Healthcare waiting areas and clinics
  • Education — universities, private schools, libraries

How we fit it

  • Site survey and moisture test — LVT failures almost always start with a damp, uneven, or contaminated subfloor. We hygrometer-test, check levelness to the manufacturer's tolerance, and survey existing adhesive residues.
  • Design input — For patterned installations we work with the designer on a setting-out drawing, balance the pattern to the space, and agree border and threshold details.
  • Priced proposal — Fully itemised — product, adhesive, subfloor prep (DPM, latex, ply), patterning labour, trims, welding (where specified), uplift and programme.
  • Subfloor preparation — Self-levelling, moisture suppressant where required, ply overlay for timber subfloors. We work to the adhesive manufacturer's spec, not general practice.
  • Installation — Boxes batched and acclimatised, adhesive applied correctly for conditions, tiles or planks laid to the setting-out drawing, rolled and edge-trimmed cleanly.
  • Handover and maintenance regime — First-clean, care instructions, spare stock, and O&M pack including fire certs, wear warranty, slip data and batch numbers.

FAQs

LVT questions, answered.

What wear layer do we need for a commercial install?
0.55mm is the entry-level commercial spec; 0.70mm is the reliable answer for most office and retail environments; heavy-traffic public spaces and hotel receptions benefit from 1.0mm. We'll match to the footfall and warranty you need.
Can you lay patterned LVT — herringbone, parquet, inlays?
Yes. We produce a setting-out drawing, balance the pattern to the room, and lay in batched quantities so the natural tile variation is spread evenly. Borders and inlays are normal work for us.
How do you handle live-trading retail spaces?
Phased, overnight, or weekend — agreed up front. We barrier the work, use low-odour adhesives, and hand the space back ready for trade each morning.
Do you supply fire and slip data?
Yes. O&M packs include Cfl-s1 (or higher) fire classification, PTV slip test data, product EPD where requested, and full maintenance regime.
How quickly can the space be back in use?
Most commercial adhesives allow foot traffic within 24 hours and full wheeled load within 48–72. For faster turnaround we can specify a rapid-set system at a small premium.
Welded or unwelded seams?
Most commercial LVT is unwelded — joints are tight enough that welding isn't needed. For healthcare or wet-area installs where a continuous hygienic finish is required, we chemically or heat-weld the seams.
