Engineered hardwood for offices, hospitality and retail — long-board formats, UFH-ready builds, and a finish that still looks good after thousands of footfalls.

About Wood flooring

Engineered hardwood for offices, hospitality and retail — long-board formats, UFH-ready builds, and a finish that still looks good after thousands of footfalls.

Where it works best

  • Boutique hotels, restaurants and bars
  • Showrooms and retail units
  • Executive office suites and meeting rooms
  • Reception areas and lobbies
  • Co-working spaces and creative studios

How we fit it

  • Site survey — We measure levelness, moisture, and substrate to BS 8201, and advise on whether the build-up is suitable for engineered wood or whether another product will give better life.
  • Specification — We work with the designer on board grade, width, finish, and any laying pattern — plank, chevron, herringbone — and confirm the underlay and adhesive system.
  • Priced proposal — Covers boards, adhesive, subfloor prep, acclimatisation, installation, trims and handover pack.
  • Subfloor preparation — Hygrometer test, DPM where required, self-levelling to within the product tolerance. Corners we don't cut.
  • Installation — Boards acclimatised, laid fully bonded or floating per spec, expansion allowed at all perimeters, thresholds detailed cleanly.
  • Handover — Floor cleaned, trims finished, and O&M pack delivered with care regime, maintenance products, and any spare boards for future repair.

FAQs

Wood questions, answered.

Is engineered wood robust enough for hospitality use?
Yes — with the right board grade and wear-layer thickness. We'd specify a 4mm+ wear layer, a 20mm total board for heavier traffic, and a hard-wax oil or UV-lacquered finish chosen for the setting.
Can we run wood into a kitchen or bar area?
We'd advise against it in food-prep zones — the combination of spills, grease and high footfall is hard on any wood. Behind the bar we'd look at a compatible LVT or vinyl that visually matches. We'll flag this at design stage.
Can the floor be refinished later?
Yes — engineered boards with a 4mm+ wear layer can usually be sanded back twice. We specify products that allow for refinishing, and leave spare stock for spot repairs.
Will it work with underfloor heating?
Yes, with products rated for UFH. We agree the commissioning, heat-up schedule with the M&E contractor, and pre-condition the boards to match the site temperature and RH before fitting.
How disruptive is install in a live space?
We can phase work around operational hours, but fully-bonded wood needs unbroken fit-and-cure time. We'll usually ask for the zone to be handed over for the duration of the install and initial cure — normally three to five days for a typical restaurant floor.
What warranty applies?
Manufacturer warranty runs 10–25 years depending on product and application; our installation is warranted twelve months. For commercial applications we confirm the specific warranty wording at quote stage.
