R10 and R11 slip-resistant vinyl for wet rooms, adapted bathrooms and utility areas — fitted properly so it performs the way it's designed to.

About Safety Flooring flooring

R10 and R11 slip-resistant vinyl for wet rooms, adapted bathrooms and utility areas — fitted properly so it performs the way it's designed to.

Where it works best

  • Adapted and accessible bathrooms
  • Level-access wet rooms
  • Utility and boot rooms
  • Downstairs WCs in older properties
  • Granny annexes and care-at-home setups

How we fit it

  • Home visit and specification — We discuss the user's needs, slip rating required, whether coved skirting is wanted, and any access or drainage considerations.
  • Subfloor assessment — Safety flooring needs a perfectly flat, moisture-controlled substrate. We survey carefully and quote for any plywood, self-levelling or tanking work required.
  • Written quote — Covers flooring, adhesive, subfloor prep, cove formers, capping strips, weld rod and fitting.
  • Subfloor preparation — Levelling compound, ply overlay, or full tanking as required — with coved former battens fitted if you're going wet-room.
  • Installation and welding — Sheet laid with full adhesive spread, rolled to expel air, joints chemically or hot-air welded so the finished floor is continuous and watertight.
  • Handover — Full care instructions, cleaning product recommendations, and confirmation of the slip rating at handover.

FAQs

Safety Flooring questions, answered.

What does R10 or R11 mean?
They're slip-resistance ratings — the higher the number, the more grip. R10 is suitable for most domestic bathrooms; R11 is typical for wet rooms and commercial kitchens. We'll specify based on how the room is used and whether water is standing or flowing.
Is safety flooring rough or uncomfortable?
Modern ranges achieve their grip from fine aggregate and surface texture, not the old coarse finish you might remember. It's comfortable barefoot and easy to clean.
Can it be installed as a full wet-room floor?
Yes — with the subfloor prepared, tanked where required, and a coved upstand formed at the walls so the floor becomes a continuous waterproof tray. We'd usually coordinate with your plumber on drain position and fall.
How is it cleaned?
Warm water and a neutral floor cleaner for daily use, a diluted alkaline cleaner for a deeper periodic clean. Avoid solvents and bleach in concentrated form. We leave specific product recommendations on handover.
Does it work with underfloor heating?
Yes — most safety flooring ranges are UFH-compatible to around 27°C. We confirm the specific product's tolerance before specifying.
How long will it last in a family bathroom?
Ten to fifteen years is realistic with sensible care. Heavy daily use — like an assisted bathing setup with a wheeled hoist — shortens that, but the product is designed for it.
